Chlorinated water and other chemicals can damage the gold used for diamond settings. One of the easiest ways to clean your diamond jewellery is to soak it in a bowl with four parts of warm water and one part household ammonia for ten minutes. You can use a very soft (unused) make-up brush to clean the jewellery gently and leave it to drain on some tissue paper.
